Made it to China! And the sky is bluer than one might expect…Below is the Olympic Stadium from the 2008 Summer Games, aka, the BirdsNest.
Yesterday we visited the Yansan Refinery, which provides 60% of the gasoline for Beijing. It produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuels as well as petrochemical feedstocks and lubricants. Additionally, they have a reverse osmosis wastewater filtration system that outputs water that is cleaner than the water that is initially fed into the system (it’s also drinkable!)
Also, met our wonderful Chinese counterparts from Tsinghua and Xiamen. Here’s a photo of the whole group in front of the oldest building on the Tsinghua campus.
